Somanjana Chatterjee

Somanjana Chatterjee was born and raised in a secular environment in a hugely cosmopolitan city. From early childhood she was introduced to Christian education, Western thoughts and communist regime. While learning about Greco-Roman civilization she tumbled upon Eastern philosophies. Some of the Western books that deeply inspired her are The Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy, The Razor’s Edge by Somerset Maugham, works of Kafka, Nietzsche and T.S. Eliot. While living and working in 3 continents, going through the motion of average work-life, making a transition from being a journalist to corporate communicator, experiencing motherhood, spiritual understanding was confined to intellectual pursuit only. Reading and writing. That changed in 2013 when the universe showered many opportunities to her to actually experience Dharma and learn from realized people. Seven years down the line, Soma spends most of her time at Interreligious councils, learning, talking and sharing faith-based discourses. She is currently a Fellow at Hansavedas Foundation under His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda, a highly ordained Vedic monk who reveals to us Himalayan tradition of Vedic wisdom based on his lineage of Sanskrit heritage. Soma serves as the Board Member of Silicon Valley Interreligious Council representing Hinduism from Hindu American Foundation. She resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
